Shawoletter - Issue #1 - January 2023
Hello Shawols!
It's a New Year and with it brings new challenges, new content and new inspiration for Creatorwols!
If you've not come across us before, hello! We are SHINee AO3, a group of Creatorwols who wish to archive and preserve all of our fandom content is preserved and not lost over time. We are doing that in a number of ways - and one of those ways is Shawoletter! An inclusive fandom newsletter, at the start of each month with a summary and run down of all content available for authors, artists, readers, and more!
We have a lot of aims for our archive project and you can read more about it on our Carrd - and maybe find a volunteer role or two you'd like to help with as well!
With our quick intros out of the way, the first edition of Shawoletter has been made up, with a very promising start to the New Year.
Take a look at what's happened and what has gone on in December 2022-January 2023!
SHINee Fandom : December 2022-January 2023
It's a New Year and, thus, comes plenty of new events, continuing rounds, and new things to try your hand at in the SHINee shipdom world!
But, let's not forget our 2022 yearly closers:
If you missed it, in December, Mod Chick ran a Colorful Readathon - readers were given a handful of prompts each day, inspired by the colors of the rainbow - inspired by SHINee's Christmas present to Shawols - Colorful! The idea was to give our Authorwols a present over the festive season in the form of commenting on the works you found for the prompts given. You can still check out the prompt list, have some fun with them, and leave more comments for authors!
All the recommendations from this round have been saved in our accounts bookmarks with the bookmarker's tag "Colorful Readathon".
Pearlesque 5tars also began a new round - being the fest's fourth - in December.
But with December now in the past and 2023 granting us a new year of creation - what events are there in shipdom for January?

Pearlesque 5tars has begun their fourth round - ARTISTee - focusing on SHINee inspired by works of art from around the world. The round was introduced on December 20th and sign ups started on December 21st. If you want to take part in this beautiful round at the start of January - there's no worries! Sign ups close on January 20th, 2023 with postings beginning on January 22nd.

SHINee AO3
Here at SHINee AO3, we're running an event for readers. Join us in January to take part in a readathon that is part scavenger hunt and part commenting challenge! Unlike our previous Colorful Readathon, this will be a 31 day daily event - with the goal being readers commenting on fics and finding new ones they wouldn't necessarily try with the scavenger hunt!
All recommendations made will be bookmarked in our AO3 bookmarks with the Bookmarker's Tag "SHINee Fic Readathon" for easy browsing!

Other Notices
Taemythos - the Taemin-centric mythology-focused fest - has run an interest check and has announced a second round starting in April and posting in October (Twitter)
For the Taemin/SuperM Wols among us, SuperM_onthly has begun a January 2023 round in which all Taemin/SuperM ships are writable (Twitter | Carrd)
SuperM Fest has come back from unannounced hiatus to state that their rare pair round, Going 100 - containing four Taemin slash ships and four platonic Taemin ships - will be completed sometime in early 2023. They will also be running a mini round between the 9th and 23rd of January (Twitter | Carrd)
Help SHINee AO3
To close up this first posting, Mods wanted to reach out about two projects that SHINee AO3 is working on!

This month we are working on creating a beta bank for Authorwols and SHINee fic fests and everyone in between to be able to use for their works.
If you'd like to become a beta for SHINee works, please fill in this Google Form
It may take some time before you're contacted for a beta request - we want to ensure we have a good log of betas before we open to beta requests - although fic fests may request early if their deadline is before the opening.
One of the main projects that SHINee AO3 wants to achieve is a fic translation team - a team to help translate content in and out of different languages to increase the amount of SHINee fic that can be read by everyone, increase author stats and have fun reading new fics as the time goes on.

SHINee AO3 Fanlore Project
As part of the SHINee AO3 project, we want to ensure that fandom, ficdom and fanon content is preserved for generations to come - part of that is adding content to the Fanlore Wikia!
In December, the OTWols have added a handful of pages to the Fanlore Wikia that can be seen below:
The SHINee page already exists on Fanlore - we have added the current fests and updated a few bits and pieces to represent the 2022-2023 fandom climate.
More SHINee content is required on the page - feel free to edit and add content! Make sure to read the editing guide first!
We added the Fan Fic section and the Other section to Fanworks.
